'Love You' Cast Celebrates Good Ratings With Popcorn

Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang's new drama "Love You" (醉後決定愛上你) is once again number 1 on the Sunday's idol drama rating chart, receiving an average rating of 2.62. The cast including both leads and Tiffany Hsu held a celebration event for yesterday's good rating. Usually people celebrate good ratings with good foods, but only popcorn for this drama?

In fact, popcorn is a quite important element in Episode 2 of this new drama. In that episode, Rainie is upset over her boyfriend and needs to calm down by eating popcorn. However, during official filming, the crew actually stuffed toilet paper inside the popcorn bag underneath real popcorn to save money. They decided to eat lots of real popcorn at the celebration event yesterday to pay back the actors.

Playing a good looking and rich architectural designer, Joseph is now many girls' dream husband and many netizens have been confessing their love to him. Even partner in the drama Rainie expressed the same thought.

"If there is a good looking husband like him, I'm willing to marry him even without giving me one million!*"

*In the drama, Joseph promises to give Rainie one million if she agrees to be his fake wife for 3 months.

Rainie Yang & Joesph Chang Leads of 'Fated to Love You' Spinoff

Joseph Chang
Rainie Yang and Joseph Chang are confirmed to be the leads of the spinoff of "Fated to Love You"---<醉後決定愛上你>! [rough translation: Decide to Love You After Drunken]

Recent idol dramas have not been doing well in terms of ratings compared to the past when average ratings were between 2s and 4s. In 2008, a low-profile idol drama called "Fated to Love You" made a history in Taiwanese idol dramas, getting ratings as high as 14 points once. A sequel/spin off of this drama was discussed last year in hopes to bring back good ratings and the crew wanted original leads from the drama, Ethan Ruan and Joe Chen, to star as a couple again.

However, perhaps due to schedule conflict, new leads were cast and it is officially going to be Rainie and Joseph. It is Rainie's first drama after she crowned Golden Bell's Best Actress last year. As for Joseph, he appears less in idol drama in recent years and focuses in the film industry. The crew hopes it would be a fresh pair to the audience.

Recently got a new hair duo, Rainie attended to a press conference of the drama yesterday and draw with a Taiwanese artist. Since the original drama has some hot bed scenes, the same thing is expected in this spin off. The actress hinted the level of bed scenes in this drama: "Triangle means movements on our scripts, and there is a page that is full of triangles! The only word on the page is 'explore'!"

Outsiders have thought this new drama would be the sequel of "Fated," but in fact it has a brand new plot. They even cooperate with artists from Taiwan's cultural and creative industry, making this idol drama more cultural and unique.

Rainie Yang's New Short Hair Look

Rainie Yang welcomes new year and wishes for new love with this new hair duo.

The 26 year old has been in the showbiz for 10 years. She starred in many popular idol dramas, released well-known tracks, and even crowned Golden Bell's Best Actress last year. To have a fresh new start, she decides to cut off her nearly 100CM long hair.

But this is a tough decision to make. Rainie could not sleep the days before cutting her hair, worrying fans might like this big change. But the result makes her more ladylike. She even jokes that it is very easy to wash and blow dry her hair now.

Besides changing her hair style for her 10-years anniversary in the showbiz, Rainie also hopes this new look can attract more 'peach blossom.' Been single for 4 years, the singer/actress longs to be loved and she even tried 'blind dating.' She had a dinner date with someone not in the showbiz 2 months ago but their progress to becoming a couple reaches a dead end because her status as an artiste. Her fans recognized her during the dinner and kept asking for autographs. She could feel the guy was little uncomfortable about it.

Now before meeting a new guy on a date, Rainie would always ask whether the guy knows she is an artiste to avoid the same thing from happening again.

Rainie Yang Wins 'Best Actress' At the 45th Golden Bell Awards

After Ariel Lin won "Best Actress" with idol drama "They Kiss Again" at the Golden Bell Awards (Taiwanese Emmy) in 2008, another idol, Rainie Yang, was crowned "Best Actress" with idol drama "Hi My Sweetheart" at yesterday's annual awards ceremony. Fellow partner in "Hi My Sweetheart" Show Luo is nominated "Best Actor," but lost to teen actor Wu Cheng Di.

Rainie and Amber Kuo are actually the judges' favorites, but judges believe Ranie had a bigger transformation compared to her usual cute, good girl image (she plays an emo loner in "Hi My Sweetheart"). As for this unexpected honor, Rainie was very nervous and excited at the same time when her name was called. She couldn't say anything at one moment, as she didn't even prepare her thank you speech. "It really is hard to win with idol dramas, hope judges can pay more attention to idol dramas in the future," she said with tears.

This year is the 10th year the 26-year-old is in the showbiz. Besides winning a Golden Bell award, she just finished touring. "I received many gifts this year!," she said. She feels very proud to win with an idol drama, but also feel it's a pity that Show didn't win. "Maybe because I wasn't good enough. We helped each other out. It's a good competition though," she sighed.

In addition, this year's "Best Actor" winner Wu Cheng Di actually won over his competitors with more than half of the votes. Judges point out Show in "Hi My Sweetheart" features his romantic side; Wu depicts realism; veteran actor Chang Chen Guang has a different performance than before; James Wen's acting is between romance and realism. In the end, Wu is picked as the winner for his fresh and burden-less performance.
